The timber is smoked to drive a deep, warm-brown colour right into the wood, then brushed to raise the grain and finished with a natural oil that leaves a soft, low-sheen, matt surface. Nothing about it looks synthetic or sprayed-on — it has the lived-in, characterful depth of a floor that has aged gracefully over decades.

Smoking colours the wood by reacting with its natural tannins rather than sitting on the surface, so the tone has genuine depth and will not simply scratch away to reveal pale wood beneath. The oiled finish soaks into the timber for a tactile, authentic feel and can be spot-maintained over time, while the engineered oak construction keeps the board stable across changing seasons and suitable for use with underfloor heating.
