Measure Smarter.
Order Better.
Use our flooring calculator to estimate how much material you need, including the correct allowance for cuts, fitting, and wastage based on your chosen laying pattern.
How to Measure Your Space
Before ordering your floor, take a few accurate measurements. For irregular rooms, split the area into simple shapes and total them together.
Clear the area
Remove furniture where possible and measure the full section where the flooring will run.
Measure length
Measure the longest wall from corner to corner and note the dimension clearly.
Measure width
Measure the width at the widest point. Rooms are often not perfectly square.
Split irregular rooms
For bays, alcoves, or L-shapes, break the room into sections and total each area.
Include details
Remember bay windows, recesses, and walk-through areas where boards will continue.
Double-check
Measure twice before ordering. A second check helps avoid shortages later.

Wastage Guide
Standard Planks ¡ 10%
Straight plank layouts are the most efficient and usually need the lowest allowance for cuts and end trims.
Herringbone ¡ 15%
Because of the angled layout, herringbone creates more off-cuts at the perimeter and around borders.
Chevron ¡ 18%
Chevron patterns use pre-angled boards, which generally require the highest allowance during fitting.
The formula
Area = Length à Width
Wastage = Area à %
Total = Area + Wastage
